Maybe you remember it. It\’s about what humor should look like, and at whose address it was allowed to joke, and at whose address it was allowed to joke, in public terms, what is not allowed is prohibited. And if someone did not pay attention to it, they could easily pay for it.
It can be said that those days were never fun. Our people were never laughing. And there are many truths in it. It was a time we could still enjoy. A lot.
Yes, we had an uncritical caste in power. But even if they were not allowed to joke about it, they were. But it had to be done. Submit and understand. So it was a country where we learned to read between the lines.
So we spoke officially as allowed, and not so openly even where it was not allowed. Everyone was wrapped up to know what was going on, but thanks to a clever formulation, a replica of the problem, the whole play, the author, or the main character is disabled.
Today is another time. Today, everything that is not prohibited is allowed, but this is quite the opposite of what we used to do. It should make us laugh more. Because now we can make fun of anyone and anything.
I can\’t help feeling that we are not happy. What has changed in that intellectual humor that we were laughing at? Where are the films and theater performances like secluded in the forest, there are resorts in the village, stationmaster, dear friend yes, and so on.? Where are the icons of humor similar to Burian, Holzmann, Voskovc and Werich? Where are the audience in the theater?
Where is the kind humor of an era that was not based on meekness, stupidity and obscenity?
I\’m not sure if I\’m alone in this, but I just miss something like this. And very rarely do I find it today other than memorial programs and reruns. Unfortunately.
