There is no doubt that few people today can live without the Internet. And this applies to children as well, whether we like it or not. Most of the time we tend to blame our children, but few of us realize that they also need the Internet for school and study. And this is something that many parents do not realize. Of course, this is especially true for older children, but the same is true for younger children. So why do they need the Internet?
There are several reasons. First of all, of course, is the acquisition of information. When writing an essay or other paper, they usually search the Internet for information on a given issue. They also have teachers who recommend websites or tell them which websites to avoid. Of course, this is not an end in itself. In this way, children learn to search for information, evaluate sources, and discern which are true and which are false.
Then there is the school schedule. This is rarely given in paper form anymore, especially for younger children in the first grade. Older children are already posted on the Internet. Of course, this has its advantages. It can be continually revised and, for example, if one of the teachers becomes ill, a replacement teacher can be put on the site. This is much easier than having to notify each class that a teacher is in charge of individually.
Then there are grades. Since these are also posted online, students can view them at any time and immediately see, for example, whether a particular paper has already been revised. Parents also have access to this system, so they can manage their children\’s learning and do not have to worry about hiding from their parents that their grades have dropped. [The advantages are obvious, but unfortunately many parents do not understand this. So, for example, they may ban the Internet altogether because their child has committed some misdemeanor, not knowing that they will not be able to do their homework. Of course, that is not a good thing.
